Mechanical testing to determine the material properties of small specimens and thin films for product development, quality control, or forensic analysis. Materials include metals, ceramics, and polymers. Microspecimens may either be cut from bulk material or deposited into final shape. Cross-section thicknesses range from 100 nanometers to 1 millimeter with lengths from 200 microns to 10 millimeters. A complete tensile stress-strain curve is generated, which enables the determination of Young's modulus, yield strength, ultimate strength, and fracture strength.
