The Emerging Communications Technology Institute, ECTI, is an interdisciplinary research institute and open access micro/nano fabrication laboratory based at the University of Toronto. ECTI provides global university-based leadership and scientific expertise through access to state-of-the-art research facilities and equipment. It promotes collaborative research with strategic partners by facilitating advanced educational and information exchange events, and by taking a leading role in the pursuance of large granting opportunities. Key research areas include nanotechnology and nanofabrication, photonic materials and devices, MEMS/NEMS, biotechnology, microwave devices, micro- and nano-electronic devices, integrated optics, photovoltaic devices, and microfluidic/lab-on-a-chip devices.
