I'm not sure which glass you're referring to by "the glass", as there
are many varieties of glass.  However if the glass contains mobile ions,
as is the case with Pyrex and soda lime glass, you can anodically bond
the glass to metals that are easily oxidized.  e.g. you can anodically
bond to aluminum, but not gold.  In regard to matching coefficient of
thermal expansion, the selection of metal will depend on the CTE of "the
glass", whatever that is.
