Perhaps, the WWW page format is a more appropriate way to view the questions
and issues sent to ISI and the MEMS community or, perhaps it is not.
The WWW page format allows one to select subjects they are interested in. This
requires the MEMS researcher to seek the information at the initial WWW page
and choose which leg, or web link, to follow. Because the subject is presented
in succession, a researcher may miss vital information because of a lack of
time to follow a new link or because of a mislabeled link that does not
initiate interest.
The e-mail distribution of the ISI submissions is a different format that
reduces ones time to seek the information. The vital information is presented
in parallel on the terminal. One only needs to decide what to read.
The e-mail format allows both senior researcher, graduate or even undergraduate
to present their issues in the same location. The experienced can learn from
the inexperienced just as an adult can learn from the innocent questions of a
child.
