Dear Dirk,
This e-mail thread is slightly out of topics for a MEMS-list, but I believe
it may help people struggling with the enjoyably large flow of incoming
e-mail from this list...
There is a simple solution to your problem it is to automatically filter the
incoming e-mail and to store the e-mail coming from [email protected] in a
separate directory under your inbox.
With Microsoft Outlook on a PC system you have to use the inbox assistant
under the tools menu and filter to a MEMS-directory the e-mail with
[email protected] in the TO: field (not the FROM field, because it is forwarded
e-mail, and thus come from many authors).
I believe this kind of tools does exist for all operating system, ask your
closest network administrator :-), and thus you may have the benefits of a
mailing list without its main inconvenient of messing all the content of
your inbox.
As Liu Jing pointed it out, for people not able to use such tool, it could
be fine if the ISI could provide a summary service : concatenate all the
e-mail in one and send it. To be more practical (because a big e-mail is not
as convenient as many small, for example you have to open it to see what's
inside, because there is only one subject header) and avoid duplicate I
suggest that the ISI should provide this service on another list
(MEMS-summary) where people in need may subscribe instead of subscribing to
this one.
Hope it may help...
