Due to the many questions I have recieved on my recent note, please be advised
that my company's continuous-tone, gray-scale masking is EXACTLY what I stated.
It is NOT binary or half-tone, every single pixel has an actual shade of gray.
Such a shaded pixel must be at least 1 um square, but can in fact be larger in
steps of 1/4 um.
We had an article in IEEE Spectrum (Oct 1993, p 68, "The finbest gray scale
yet") about our work.
