I need to find a micro machinist who worked in the field in the late
eighties who can render an opinion on the state of micro-movement technology
at that time.

Specifically, I need to know whether it was possible to machine an apparatus
capable of moving a pen point across a glass surface in 50 micron increments
along the x and y axes, raising and lowering the point before and after each
movement.
