OAI seeks a partner for a research program to help fabricate a MEMs device
in a collaborative team setting.
OAI is a not-for-profit institute founded by NASA, the US Air Force and the
State of Ohio to facilitate collaborative research in aerospace
technologies between the three cultures of Academia, Industry, and
University. OAI manages about $110M in various collaborative research
programs, ranging from NIST Advanced Technology Programs to NASA Mars
Exploration.
The purpose of this program is Micropower Generation.
The program proposes a robust SiC chip that would have an integrated power
source --- i.e.. something that might fly on a small communications
satellite and keep the circuitry alive, or that could be used on the
battlefield to power a soldier's GPS system. Our team includes some of the
best expertise in SiC technology, including NASA, for packaging/power
conditioning, but not for the actual device that generates the power. Our
academic partner has developed a design, wants to create a prototype, and
potentially do technology transition. Therefore, we seek a partner to help
fabricate the MEMs microturbine part of the device.
The potential fabricating partner we are looking for:
Must be a US fab house
Should have experience in SiC MEMs devices
Has Interest/experience in MEMs microturbines
