Hi Andrew,
it is fine that the answer is channelled back to the list instead of
becoming a private piece of information - but I'll suggest it appears
only in the list archive, so that interested people may go and get the
multiple answers, but those who don't care don't get flooded under a
huge number of e-mail :-)
I'll say keep the questions on the list - but send the answers to the
archive!
OK, for me it is fine, I like receiving 100 e-mails a day :-), but I
fear it may deter some of the list participants...
Go on with the good job!
Franck

"Subject: [mems-talk] ADMIN: change to list configuration
"
"
"Summary: starting immediately, replies to mems-talk postings will be
"directed to the mems-talk list by default.
"
"Explanation:
"One problem with the mems-talk list is that few threads of discussion
"are formed; most of the list traffic is just a stream of questions
"with no follow-ups. One reason for this is that in most mail
"programs, the default action when you reply to a posting is to send
"your reply privately to the original questioner. (Most good mail
"programs have separate 'reply' and 'group-reply' commands, but few
"people know about them and therefore just use 'reply' all the time.)
"
"In an effort to fix this problem, I've just changed the list's setup
"so that when you reply to a posting, the default action will be for
"your reply to go to this list. Please address any comments about this
"change or about the list to me, or bring them up on the list itself.
"
"(If you're familiar with how Internet mail works, the technical
"description of the change is that messages from the list will now have
"a "Reply-To: [email protected]" header added to them.)
