Hi Patrick,

The thermal diffusivity for water is a function of temperature and the medium
you are trying to flow through. The Reynolds number is dependent on the
viscosity of the fluid and velocity of the liquid the cell is moving through.
You can find standard reference values in Perry's Chemical Engineering
handbook. If you are interested in physilogical conditions , dilute salt
solutions can be used as a guide in calculating the parameters you are
interested in.

Sincerely,
Walter Stonas

Subject: [mems-talk] Thermal Diffusivity and Reynolds number

Hello, I have two simple questions that I need answered. I am a
biologist trying to figure out some basic biochemical engineering
questions. What is the thermal diffusivity value for water? What is the
Reynolds number for motion of a swimming cell? Thanks for your help!
