Hi all,

There is a postdoctoral position available in the MEMS Group at the National
Microelectronics Research Centre, Ireland. Please see below for details.

A position is available in the NMRC, Ireland for a person with suitable
experience in Microsystems technology. NMRC is Irelands premier ICT
research centre and employs over 200 people engaged in a wide range of
research disciplines. For more information on the NMRC, access the web-site
at www.nmrc.ie.

The main part of the candidate's work will be to develop a highly reliable
micromachined switch in a CMOS process. These goals can be achieved by
designing switches with high compliance and homogenous stress distribution
and residual stress control in the switch structural layers. Switch
packaging and reliability will also need to be investigated to prove the
commercial viability of this technology.
The candidate should have a qualification in Electrical/Electronic
Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Material Science. Physics or a closely related
discipline. A post-graduate qualification, ideally to Ph.D. level, would be
an advantage.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a research environment relating
to microsystems processing and device design, simulation and test. Current
environments at NMRC include a CMOS and Microsystem fabrication facility.
Devices are laid out in the Mentor Graphic environment and device simulation
uses the CovenetorWare and ANSYS platforms. The main objective of the
proposed research work is in the area of suface micromachining for RF and
sensing applications. Relevant experience in these research topics should be
outlined in the application process. A strong record of scientific
publication is also desirable.
