Dear Laura and all others concerned,
This is a bit off-topic for a MEMS discussion group, but I feel
I have to reply and clarify my standpoint.
1. It is well-known that the ubiquitous "remove me" instructions
at the bottom of SPAM messages are usually bogus and solely
used as verification that the address is actually in use. You
will get more, not less, messages if you follow instructions.
The fact that only 2 out of 1000 responded does NOT mean all
the others are happy to receive your messages.
2. Messages sent through MEMS-Talk are clearly marked as such.
Direct email, such as the SPAM I complained about, is not.
On top of that the subject started with "RE:" although it was
not a reply. The only reason for the SPAMMER to do this is to
be read with higher priority than he deserves (Although I
enjoy MEMS-Talk, it is not essential to my job and I read the
messages after the "real work" is done). I object to such
practises by SPAMMERS.
3. I would not subscribe to MEMS-Talk if it were not moderated.
(Thanks Mr. Kuchling!)
My mailbox is already full enough without all that junk ...
Greetings,
Frank Berauer

Subject: [mems-talk] SPAM
Did you know if you post your email address on Mems-Talk Org, and some
person/company sends you an email, it is not considered SPAM. I am
directing this towards Frank Berauer. You have joined MEMS-TALK and so
have many others, you also post your email address for all to see, that
is if we are a part of the MEMS Exchange. What did you expect? I too,
read Shahram message, I don't know how you believe that is a commerical
meesage? It is completey your choice to be removed but come on, what is
this for any ways...INFORMATION.
I too go through the posted messages and get new email addresses( and I'm
sure many of other companies do ) and send them letters about our
company, granted I don't post it here and I also give them the chance to
be removed from future mailings. And I must confess, out of the, HHHMMM
1,000 emails I have sent out inthe past month, only 2 people have replied
with wanting to be removed. And one of them them didn't have anything to
do with MEMS in the first place, but they are on MEMS -Talk. So as you
see most any one can join
